{ Prepare Your Quilt! }
Please follow these guidelines when preparing your quilt top for delivery.
Quilt:
Do not baste your quilt, with pins or any other method.
If you have a preference, please identify the head or top of your quilt top and head or top of the backing if applicable, with a piece of paper marked with pencil and taped or pinned to fabric. Otherwise, I will load the quilt as it makes sense to me.
Square your quilt top - this is important as it will determine if the pattern quilted over the top is square. If your quilt is not sqaure - the pattern will quilt at an angle.
Press your quilt well. Seams open or to one side.
Trim all loose threads on your quilt, they can show under light fabric. They also can cause snags and uneven stitching.
Quilt top should be free of embellishments such as buttons, charms, pins, sequins, couching, etc.
**Please be aware: Borders that do not lay flat may cause tucks, pleats or fullness. Wavy borders will be worked on a case by case basis and will either add extra batting to absorb the fabric, tuck or fold the fabric into the quilt as best apprpriate. Extra charges based on the complexity and extra time will apply. This will most likely not be documented in the original estimate.
Backing: -Trim selvage edges from seams and press open. Press well. -Backing preparation service is available, $12.00 per seam charge, plus an additional $20.00 to square backing and press fabric. Batting:
-Please make sure your backing has been cut and is square. If backing is not square, a charge of $20 will be added to the final invoice. Allow an extra 4-6 inches beyond all sides of the quilt top. 100% cotton is referred; bed sheets are not recommended. The dense nature can prevent needle penetration, causing skipped stitches. Please do not bring fleece as a backing as it does not do well under the tention from the longarm.
You may supply your own batting (allow an extra 4-6 inches beyond all sides of the quilt top) or purchase batting from me.
Batting on hand:
Warm and Natural – 100% Cotton
Warm and Natural Blend – 80% Cotton, 20% Polly
